There are few areas in a house where a mirror will not improve it. Mirrors help to create the illusion of space and light. None of us would expect to follow Louis XIV with 357 mirrors, as were installed in the Hall of Mirrors in Versailles, but if you have a difficult space, it is the mirror which will come to the rescue.
In a narrow hall, hang several identical mirrors at the same height and with an equal space between each. You will be surprised how effective this is, in creating an illusion of space and light, the impact it will have on visitors and still allows easy passage through.
In a small area hang a large mirror on the end wall. This will enlarge the space and your brave decision to choose a large mirror in a small space will create light.
In a sitting room a large mirror can be a focal point in the room. Consider if you prefer to link the style with your other furniture or as a contrast. If you choose a coloured frame it can link with the predominant colour in your fabrics or wallpaper. With ornate furniture I would choose a plain but strong frame and with simple furniture you can introduce something more decorative, maybe carved.
