DESIGN GUIDE FOR DINING ROOM FURNITURE - PAGE 1

Dining Tables and Chairs Elegant Eating

The choice of tables and chairs is infinite and the first and last rule is – there is none! It is down to your preference. If you are unsure of the style you like – because the choice is so large – follow this simple suggestion, which we always make to our clients before they make a final decision on the decoration and furnishing of a room. Look at as many interior design magazines as possible, go window shopping, browse the internet. During this time make sure you follow a ‘love/hate’ process. That is, you are definite – even extreme - in your opinion of the designs you find. When you have completed this – and it can be fun – you are ready to search for the chosen style. Indeed, you may already have found it during your travels through the interior design world.

There are so many styles, antique, traditional, modern, contemporary. There are also many materials, glass, wood, painted wood, metal, plastic. The influences are myriad from all over the world, each country illustrates its character in the lines and colours of its furniture. Please visit BTCbyDESIGN’s ‘Living Room Furniture’ and be inspired by our new ‘dining range’.

It is important to remember that you do not need to keep to the same style throughout the furnishings and decoration of a room. Indeed, this can be visually boring and it is preferable to introduce a lighter touch here and there with a different influence. For example, if you are intending to use a heavy oak antique table you might consider putting very simple modern chairs round it. Or vice versa, a stark modern table would look stunning with a set of Swedish style antique chairs round it. A set of ‘Harlequin’ chairs (all different styles) round a table can add glamour and interest to the dining area. In this instance it is best to try to keep the same height of chairs to avoid a muddled look.
