DESIGN GUIDE FOR BEDROOM FURNITURE - PAGE 1

  A Dream in Cream

The most important item in the bedroom is obviously the bed. You should ensure that it is the best you can afford to buy. A well made bed will last a long time, particularly if you take care of it. Test the bed in several sleeping positions, not just on your back, and try a number of beds for comparison.

The base of the mattress will either have springs which allow the mattress to adapt to the body's contours, or a solid top which provides firmer support. A divan is useful if you're tight on space as most are available with drawers to provide additional storage.

The average lifespan of a bed is about 10 years.

Consider the space you have in your bedroom and, starting with the bed, choose one which is the largest you can accommodate. This will give you the space, luxury and a truly comfortable night’s sleep.

The normal sizes are as follows:

Single W90 x L190cm
Double W135 x L190cm
King size W150 x L200cm
Super King size W180 x L200cm

Regarding the style, this is very personal. Some will choose a traditional or antique design whereas others will prefer a minimalist modern version. This will be reflected in the shape of the headboard and the height from the floor but will not affect the comfort or size of the bed.
