Choosing Decorative Accessories for your home
These are the all important extras that will make the difference between a house with – or without – personality and interest.
Most of us, through our lives, will collect objects which attract and often remind us of wonderful holidays and experiences. Some of these we will want to display in our home but too many can overpower and look cluttered. Try to be disciplined about this and find a good looking box in which to keep some of these souvenirs. For those pieces which you want to display, if they are small, I suggest you group them all together on a shelf. Being an obsessive collector myself, I have bookcases on either side of the fireplace where I group my special momentos and every season I change them around and create a different look.
Every room deserves a dramatic focal point – and don’t be tempted to think you can get away with a large plant! Slightly over-large objects placed completely on their own can achieve drama very simply. BTCbyDESIGN has some amazing pieces to spark your imagination. Try the Flagon Vase on a window sill, or the Lantern Vase on a console table, or the Dowry Box on a shelf, or the Wooden Goose in your kitchen – be inspired by visiting BTCbyDESIGN’s ‘Gifts & Accessories’.
When it comes to arranging your decorative objects, for example on a coffee table, imagine that it is a photograph or picture and make sure that you have tall and short grouped together and the colours blend. Don’t forget to leave space for drinks and food and be sure that you provide some coasters to save the top fo your table.
